The Missing Shoulder Corner Part 2: Volleyball, Mobilizations and More Katie Hogan



Hey Leopards,

Today’s mission is part 2 in our series about the missing corner of end range shoulder flexion (overhead).  In this episode Katie Hogan talks some volleyball specifics and we demonstrate some of our favorite solutions to this problem.   In our work across different sport platforms, we see brilliant coaches working hard to program and drill around what end up being simple mobility restrictions.  In the volleyball shoulder or swimmer case, we see coaches killing themselves to develop motor control solutions (swimming catch drills or blocking drills) for bad or restricted mechanics.  This is why it’s so important that coaches have a strength and conditioning diagnostic skill set to help them make the invisible, visible. The coach clears the restriction, reinforces the movement with strength and conditioning, the athlete is able to perform exactly what the coach asks, the coach looks like a genius, and the athlete is a hero, they become world champions of the world. Simple.
